How much space do the band require?

Ideally we like to have a 6x4 meter stage to set up on, our sound technician will need space for the sound desk at the side or back of the room approx. 1.5x1.5m.
We can however fit in a much smaller area if we need to, and are perfectly happy standing on the floor rather than a stage.

What electric supply do you need?

We are able to run the full band and lighting off 2 double plugs.

What do the band need?

We are perfectly able to look after ourselves, although we really appreciate when soft-drinks, food and a room/area to and change in keep our empty cases are provided.
please contact us with your requirements and we will help you if we can.
Can Dodgey Practice play as a smaller band?
For the type of music and our setlist we need to come as a full 9 piece band – soul, funk and disco music aren’t the same without a brass section, and having both male and female vocalist means we can cover a great variety of songs.  Some of our band members are in second smaller bands, we can even provide a trumpet soloist for you wedding ceremony, so please contact us with your requirements and we will help you if we can.

Setup and Pack-down times.

It takes around 2 hrs to setup the band, and approx 1 hr to pack everything away again.  We are happy to leave music running through the system whilst we pack away – this will be the last thing we unplug.

Performance times.

We play 2 hrs of high energy live music for you – this is best divided into 2 x 1hr sets, but we are flexible to your requirements.
If you are booking us for a wedding we would advise you to bare in mind that it is a long day for you and your guests.  It is up to you, but we often find that it is best for us to setup by 7.30 and have music running through the system and then to play 9 – 10 then 10.30 – 11.30 followed by music though the system till midnight.

Can we play CD’s/mp3’s through your system?

Yes you can, we are always ready to play music through the system before, during and after our performances.  We can easily provide this ourselves, but if you have CD’s or play lists on an mp3 you want put through the system we can easily do this – it even means you don’t have to hire a separate Disco if you don’t want to.
we believe the quality of the band stands out over many similar bands so encourage you to come and see us.
Can we see you play live?
Yes, please come and see us live – we believe the quality of the band stands out over many similar bands so encourage you to come and see us.  All the recordings on our website and promotional CD’s are taken at live performances and not edited in any way.
We try to have a regular gig for you to come and see us in Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay.
See the Gig List Page for our next public gigs.

What sort of music do you play?

We cover a large range of music including Soul, Funk, Disco, Pop, Ska & Blues. Please see our Music Page

Where do you play?

The band members are based between Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay – we cover most of the South West, but find that anything over a 2hr drive home after a gig is hard work, so avoid this if we can.
